• Dragostea lui (Dumnezeu) față de oameni ce se manifestă prin sacrificiul suprem: (Dumnezeu-Tatăl) și-a sacrificat Fiul, IIsus Cristos, pentru ca oricine crede in el să fie iertat, să nu mai fie pedepsit pentru păcate prin moarte veșnică.
• Dragoste platonică, exprimată de doi oameni ca afecțiune pură, total dezinteresată fizic (material sau prin gesturi)
• alte tipuri, care nu presupun o reciprocitate vizibilă sau nu așteaptă niciun fel de reciprocitate (în egală măsură, ea se poate manifesta): dragoste față de natură, plante,animale, patrie (numită patriotism), artă (subiectul ei se numește un iubitor de artă), frumusețe etc. Un caz deosebit de important din punct de vedere cultural și spiritual este:
